Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Cook With Cella ("CwC") collects, why, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible.

What we collect

• Your account — your email address (we use passwordless magic-link sign-in, so we never store a password).
• What you put in — your pantry inventory, recipes, shopping lists, meal plans, and the cooking history you log.
• Privacy-respecting analytics — we count visits to our pages (the page, a coarse country from your connection, browser/device type, and the referring site's host) to understand our traffic. To count unique visitors we use a one-way hash of your IP address and browser combined with a secret that rotates daily and is discarded, so the result can't be traced back to you. We do not store your IP address, set a tracking cookie, or use any third-party analytics service. See our Cookie Policy.

How we use it

• To run the core product — suggest recipes from your inventory, track usage, and power your dashboard.
• To send the emails you ask for (your sign-in link, and notifications you've enabled).
• To understand, in aggregate, which shared links bring people to CwC so we can improve.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We rely on a small set of processors to operate: Resend (sign-in & summary emails), OpenAI (recipe text and, if you use it, photo scanning), fal.ai (recipe images), Open-Meteo (weather, from a coarse location only), and Open Food Facts (barcode lookups, no personal data). They process data only to provide their service to us. A full processing record is kept in our internal compliance documentation.

How we protect it

• No passwords. Sign-in is a one-time link sent to your email, so there is no password for us to store or for anyone to steal.
• Encrypted in transit. All traffic between you and CwC is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
• Sensitive data encrypted at rest. Your health-related and taste information — allergens, dietary restrictions, cuisine preferences, flavor preferences, and main-dish focus — is encrypted with AES-256 in our database, as an added safeguard for this special-category data.
• You stay in control. You can export a full copy of your data or delete your account at any time, and revoke access from any signed-in device under Settings → Security.

Shared recipe pages

If you share a recipe, its public page shows the recipe content only — never your notes, ratings, or identity. The link itself is the key; anyone with it can view that recipe.

Retention & your choices

We keep your data while your account is active. You can edit or delete your inventory, recipes, and lists at any time, export a full copy, or delete your account and associated data yourself in Settings. You can also reach us at [email protected].

Children

CwC is intended for people aged 16 and older. It isn't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
